All transportation changes should be made through the office:
  • By 2:00pm for same day changes
  • By an approved guardian
  • You can call, email, ParentSquare, or send a note with your student
Parenting plan? Families must work together to provide an accurate transportation calendar that will be kept in the office.
Parents are responsible for how their child goes home each day, please be sure to communicate with the office or the teacher.

SK BUS INFORMATION

Bus Stops

The South Kitsap Transportation Department is hard at work preparing bus routes for the coming school year. The routes should be posted by August 10. Please note the routes and times may be adjusted in the first few weeks of school so it is a good idea to keep checking back. Thank you for your patience.

Bus Compass App

South Kitsap Families have the ability to know when the bus will arrive thanks to the Bus Compass App. The technology installed on South Kitsap buses provides safety and convenience features for parents and staff:

  • GPS bus monitoring so families know exactly where the bus is on the route
  • Video and audio access for administrators to monitor behavior and safety
  • Turn by turn directions for drivers and substitutes
  • Stop paddle cameras to identify vehicles who fail to obey lawful stops
  • Onboard WIFI for students to access district approved sites

Students that are issued an RFID sticker/card are asked to scan as they board and exit the bus. This feature provides peace of mind for families. They can monitor their student's progress on the bus route by using the Bus Compass App.

✅SCHOOL BENEFITS APPLICATIONS

No Cost School Meals will be available at all South Kitsap Elementary Schools and at Cedar Heights Middle School, Marcus Whitman Middle School, and Discovery High School

The application will be open on August 1 for the 2026-2027 school year.

✅ VOLUNTEERS
We appreciate the partnership and support of community volunteers. If you would like to offer the gift of your time, please ensure you have a current volunteer background check. Volunteer clearances are valid for two years and are processed through the Washington State Patrol Criminal History System and National Sex Offender Database. Applications are available at the district office or school office and photo ID is required. Please contact Emily Fowler at the District Office with questions 360-874-7010.

Head to the district website to find more information and the volunteer application: https://www.skschools.org/414977_2

STUDENT ABSENCES

Attendance rates are an important indicator of student success and South Kitsap School District is committed to partnering with families to support positive student attendance. Communication and clear expectations are vital for the partnership to be successful.

Students must attend all classes each day because there is always something new to learn. The school records all absences and requires a note or call from parents/guardians to explain any absences within five school days. If the school does not receive information about the absence within 5 school days, the absence will be designated as unexcused.
